Gaggia 90901 Platinum Swing Up Automatic Espresso Machine with Milk Island Review

Gaggia 90901 Platinum Swing Up Automatic Espresso Machine with Milk Island
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Well we tried the Gaggia Titanium and we did not like it at all (too loud, too big, odd settings).. This one, the gaggia Swing up is PERFECT! We can do Ristretto (tiny concentrated espresso). Noise level is very good. and the machine is too big at all! The only small minus is that the water tank coud have been a bit bigger but it would mean a bulkier machine (can't have it all). Access to the tank and the coffee dumps is very easy (much easier than the titanium model). I highly recommend it! oh I almost forgot the milk island attachment is SO good too! THe milk is froth to perfection, easy to do a creamy hot chocolate with it in less than a minute!

Brew cafe-quality espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, and more from the comfort of home with this automatic espresso machine. Its intuitive programming menu includes a digital LCD screen and touch ring controls that make it easy to select the aroma strength, temperature, menu language, clock and timer settings, and much more. The unit's built-in ceramic burr grinder ensures the freshest results, while its 8-4/5-ounce bean hopper offers adjustable ground-coffee dosage from 7 to 10-1/2 grams. Select mild to strong beverages while maintaining a perfect crema thanks to the Espresso Plus System. The appliance also comes equipped with 15-bar pump pressure and a stainless-steel-lined boiler with a rapid-steam boiler system, which means no waiting between frothing milk and brewing espresso. The included Pannarello steam wand takes the guesswork out of frothing milk for thick cappuccinos and lattes, plus provides hot water for tea, hot cocoa, or soup. Other highlights include a bypass doser for preground coffee, a 57-ounce removable water reservoir, an Aqua Prima water filter, an automatic height-adjustable drip tray, and a coffee-grounds container. The brewing unit removes for easy maintenance, and the machine's impact-resistant ABS plastic housing with a stainless-steel-finished front panel will look great on any kitchen counter. Gaggia 102532 Espresso-Pure Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine, Black Review

Gaggia 102532 Espresso-Pure Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We purchased this machine just after Christmas, and have fallen in love with it since then. We were looking at another, better-looking espresso machine, but were advised to get the Gaggia by some friends. This is our first REAL espresso machine, I had a Mr. Coffee machine years ago that worked all right, but the Gaggia Pure is head and shoulders above that one. It makes great espresso, although we are still working on getting great crema out of it...sometimes we do, sometimes we don't (this could easily be our fault). The frothing nozzle is also great, and although it's not as fancy looking as the all-stainless model we nearly bought, it is still a nice looking machine.
Negatives: no warming tray, and the first shots take awhile as the machine has to warm up first. This might be true with most machines, and it's not a big deal for us. We start it up, prep the milk and cups for a few minutes, come back and its ready to go. Subsequent shots go much quicker.
We would definitely buy this machine again.

I received this machine as a christmas gift, I like having the option to make expresso/cappacino but it just didn't work well from the start. It leaked water from the bottom and now it has just stopped working. This is my second Delonghi that stopped working after about 8 months of ownership.

BES830XL Die-Cast Programmable Espresso Machine Review

BES830XL Die-Cast Programmable Espresso Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This particular model (830XL) was out of stock at most dealers. I was tempted to get the older model, 820XL, but found negative reviews regarding its pressure guage breaking down often. I wanted to avoid that so I waited and found a seller that had the newer 830XL in stock. Item was well packaged and was delivered ahead of schedule.
I ran my first espresso, and it came out decent with a good amount of crema. I tried again using a different grind size. I can see the pressure guage showing optimal pressure for the 1st run, and slightly higher for the 2nd run. On the third run, the pressure guage stopped working and the espresso was muddy and terrible. I made sure everything was clean and water tank was full, etc. I tried both manual and automatic modes. I tried going back to initial grind size. I have a pretty good coffee grinder (Rancillio Rocky) that gives out very consistent grind size. I tried everything I could think of, but the pressure guage never worked again and the espresso was not the same as the first two that came out.
They emphasize that this machine is die-cast. I was expecting a solid build quality. It's beautifully designed, but I don't know how much of this machine is actually die-cast. A good part of this thing is also plastic with something silver on the surface. I can cause the machine to flex slightly by applying some pressure from the sides when I try to move or shift it. It didn't feel as solid as I was expecting it to be.
I really wanted to like this espresso maker. It appears Breville did not do so much to address the common pressure guage problem found in the previous model. Thank God I bought this from Amazon; I just arranged a return with the Seller without any trouble.
I've purchased a Rancilio Silvia since. Very satisfied with the Silvia. Check her reviews.

Wolfgang Puck WPEM0020 Super Automatic Espresso/Cappuccino Maker Review

Wolfgang Puck WPEM0020 Super Automatic Espresso/Cappuccino Maker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the Wolfgang Puck espresso machine in May 2010 by August 2010 it stopped working. The LCD display just said water error message. The water would not run through the machine to make espresso or run its rinse cycle- the water would just run right out the bottom of the machine and all over my counter- what a mess. This machine is very large and heavy almost as big as a washing machine, (Kidding). I read that the water pump has had issues and the company is aware of it but still continues to try and unload this item. I bought mine from a store that does not have a return time frame so I was lucky. Buyer Beware!

Nespresso CitiZ C110 Automatic/Programmable Coffee Espresso and Lungo Machine, Titanium Review

Nespresso CitiZ C110 Automatic/Programmable Coffee Espresso and Lungo Machine, Titanium
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This machine looks cool, industrial, somewhat retro and couldn't be easier to use. All it takes is to turn it on, pop in a capsule, and then press either the Espresso (small cup) or the Lungo (bigger cup) button. A few moments later, the coffee pours into the cup. That's all there is to it.
The Citiz also feels high quality. For example, the tray that holds the espresso cup feels nice and heavy, and not like some flimsy cheap piece of plastic. Oftentimes smaller parts like that reveal the true quality of a machine and the Nespresso Citiz delivers here without question, high marks for that.
The machine comes with 16 sample capsules, i.e. one of each of the 16 permanently available flavors. It is fun trying these out and deciding on personal favorites. The machine produces rich crema for all flavors, so no complaints here. Each cup looks and tastes like the real thing, i.e. a nice and strong espresso or lungo.
The only caveat I see is with the Nespresso marketing system. The Grand Cru capsules this machine uses are exclusively available through Nespresso's website. They cannot be purchased anywhere else. That's one thing. I was also put off by the brouhaha Nespresso creates on its website - as if one were purchasing the crown jewels of coffee. Example: One cannot even order capsules before one has registered a machine, serial no. and all (i.e. no buying capsules ahead of time, before the machine is delivered). In addition to that, one only receives a membership number after the first order was placed. It feels too exclusive for its own good and the graphic-rich website with visible load times (even through very fast connections) gets in the way of efficiency. Add to that all the other marketing efforts on that website - from promoting exclusive Nespresso boutiques in the most expensive cities in the world to selling shamelessly overpriced accessories such as cups and carrying cases, and I can't help but slightly regret having decided on this machine. All I wanted was a machine that makes good espresso. I really do not care about Nespresso boutiques and simple machine carriers for a whopping $90.
I assume this is supposed to create exclusivity and make the customer feel like someone with a discerning taste. To me it borders on ridiculous. That said, the coffee is good and the design of the machine works. So I am still giving it 4 stars. Other than that I am trying my hardest to ignore all the rest...
UPDATE 6/2011:
It looks like there have been some changes made to the Nespresso website. It seems that now one actually can order the capsules without first having registered a machine.

Jura-Capresso ENA5 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Centers Review

Jura-Capresso ENA5 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Centers
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Have had the machine for about 3 weeks now and so far the machine is doing great. Got it refurbished for $599 through JL Hufford (recommended company). To get a $1200 machine (brand new) for $600 (pre-brewed) is a great deal and can't even tell it is previously used.
Very good machine and has several of the bells and whistles that more expensive machines have. Jura Capresso is a very reliable brand and I am very happy with the performance of the machine. Some areas for improvement, but they are very tolerable in the overall scheme of things. Sorry for the long review but wanted to make it as helpful as possible. It took me a lot of research to finally land on this machine.
What I like:
- Easy to use.
- Makes great pressure brewed coffee and good espresso. Espresso won't be as good as a manual machine but still quite good if you use the right settings and quality beans. This is the same for all super automatics.
- Has some basic programmability to remember default settings for 1 cup.
- Several ways to customize drinks (water output, grinder fineness, amount of coffee for strong, normal or mild).
- FrothXpress system is good if making multiple drinks and looks nicer as the default wand on the machine. Although, I prefer the Dual Frother Plus (traditional wand) for making one cup (more control over temp, froth, etc). TIP: make sure to rinse out the Dual Frother Plus and the FrothXpress after EVERY use. Otherwise, milk will cake up and can cause a steam explosion. Poor reviews based on this from others is user error, not the machine.
- Auto self rinsing cycle (when turned on and off) and easy to read indicators for filling water, emptying grounds, fill beans, cleaning, etc.
- Relatively quiet operation
- 1 or 2 spout dispenser
- Bypass doser
- Tall cup height
- Custom Auto off timer (1 hour, 2 hour, etc) to save energy. Zero energy pull when off.
- Slim and nice design, quality construction. But still as deep as other machines.
Areas for improvement (tolerable drawbacks):
- The temperature of drinks is somewhat inconsistent. Second drink always seems hotter, even after doing the right warm up steps. TIP: Make sure to pre warm the cups with hot water dispenser, this helps a lot.
- FrothXpress system does not heat the milk quite as good as the normal wand. TIP: If using the FrothXpress, you can do the steam only feature afterwards to heat the frothed/steamed milk a little more.
- No cup warmer. Need to use hot water dispenser. Using the hot water will actually make the cups hotter than a warming tray anyway, but it's just an extra step.
- Need to adjust cup size during processing and can't before brewing (if different than the programmed amount).
- Small water tank (37 oz). Even for a 2 person home and a few shots per day, you will refill often. Not a big deal really. But heavy users may want to take note.
- No Auto On feature for the mornings, no clock and no usage stats. Auto on would be great, but only takes a minute to warm up.
- Water filters are expensive ($20, recommended every 2 months). I'd only use if you have hard water or you absolutely feel the need to have filtered water or you don't ever want to descale. Cheaper to descale every few months. Although, with the filter you never have to descale (supposedly).
- I wish the steam wand had more range of motion.

Krups XP4030 Pump Espresso Machine, Black Review

Krups XP4030 Pump Espresso Machine, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After making cappuccino on steam type espresso makers daily for the past 12 years, I thought it was time to upgrade to a pump model. I researched pump types and decided on this model. Wow! What a difference! The espresso first comes out as a creamy light brown froth which then clarifies into a rich darker brown color within a minute. What a difference in taste! We use pure Kona and the taste is softer and smoother than we're used to. In the week I've used it, I haven't yet mastered the froth on this unit, but it's getting better and is probably a learning curve on my behalf.
Some pointers and caveats need to be mentioned up front for optimum performance and eyes wide open purchase:
1) This model is heavier & noisier than steam models
2) No decanter is included. I use a Pyrex measuring cup if making two servings. About 1/3 cup per espresso serving.
3) You must manually turn off the espresso control after the desired quantity is made, hence the measurement of 1/3 cup per serving
4) The water tank is removable--a nice touch. If it is not reseated properly, you will hear a very loud continuous noise as the unit tries to suck out water it cannot obtain. This is just a learner's tip.
5) While the water reservoir is massive, you can only make one or two servings at a time, unless the espresso is diluted. Making more is only a matter of placing the unit in standby, removing the grounds, refilling with fresh grounds and continuing the process again.
6) Always wait for the thump thump noises of the pump to stop before proceeding to the next step. This is usually a matter of several seconds, just don't be impatient!
7) Whenever crafting the froth, you must wait for the orange light to go out before proceeding. This is like waiting for the oven to reach appropriate temperature.
8) Alternatively, you cannot go straight from froth to espresso without first placing the unit in standby for a cooldown cycle. The pump will cycle for about 10 seconds. When it stops, you can proceed. This is only a cool down period.
9) For making espresso only, this unit is FAST!!
10) I am well over the age of 13!
With the above in mind, I hope you take the plunge. The price is right and the difference in taste is remarkable. If you're thinking of upgrading your steam espresso maker, go for it! The Holidaze are just around the corner!

The only deal on this cartridge I've found is to wait until it's on the 'buy 3 get the 4th free' deal with Amazon. In all the years I've been using these, I've never had a calcium or scale build-up in my coffee maker, which is the point I guess.

An important part of the cleaning process, this Clearyl water-filter cartridge for Capresso coffee machines helps ensure better-tasting coffee. The Clearyl system reduces water hardness up to 75 percent, as well as removes large percentages of chlorine, lead, copper, and aluminum if present in the water. In addition, a special organic additive removes almost all carbon and practically eliminates decalcifying. The water filter measures approximately 1-1/2 by 1-1/2 by 8 inches and works with Impressa Z6/Z5, S9/S7 Avantgarde, F60/F8/F7, J5, and E9/E8 coffee machines.

Jura-Capresso 13339 Impressa Z5 Automatic Coffee/Espresso Center Review

Jura-Capresso 13339 Impressa Z5 Automatic Coffee/Espresso Center
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned Capresso machines for about the last 8 years or so. Just replaced my Z5. It is expensive but if coffee is important to you, it's worth it.
I can't tell you how much coffee we wasted making a pot at a time the old way. That drove me crazy. Single serve is the way to go. I finally figured out how to make capuchino's with the Z5 and it is so easy! I've got a family of 5 and everyone drinks them now so our machine gets alot of use. I'd venture to say 10 cups a day on average.
We started with a less expensive Capresso model and it worked great but we felt the coffee was not hot enough. We needed more horsepower. The very first Z5 we bought was a lemon and had to be returned. The next one was good for about 3 years until we got the dreaded "Error 8". I did alot of internet research on the best machines available. There was one that seemed very similar to the Z5 but was twice the price. There were others at a lower price but I either did not like the appearance or they did not have all the features. So we stuck with the Z5.
For the more math oriented, here's the way I look at it. If the machine costs $3 grand and lasts 3 years and you make 10 cups of coffee per day, the cost of the machine per cup is under 30 cents each. Then you need to add to that supplies, coffee, water, creamers etc.
Be warned that if you are new to this type of machine it takes some time to master its use.

Make cafe-quality beverages at the press of a button using this fully automatic coffee center. The machine features eight pre-set beverage buttons for creating great-tasting cappuccinos, lattes, hot chocolates, hot teas, one or two cups of ristretto, espressos, cafe lungos, and large cups of crema coffee. Use the pre-set programs or make customized beverages by adjusting the coffee strength, coffee volume, and the amount of steamed or frothed milk. Thoughtfully designed, the unit automatically grinds coffee beans, tamps and brews the coffee, then discards used coffee grounds--all with an exceptionally low level of noise. The coffee center also provides an easy-to-read three-line LED display, a one-touch cappuccino system for making cappuccino or latte without ever moving the cup, and an invisible beam that senses the amount of beans in the bean container and indicates when it needs a refill. Jura-Capresso 13419 Impressa Z6 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center Review

Jura-Capresso 13419 Impressa Z6 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center
Average Reviews:

I've never written a review before, but I noticed a customer had put the same review on every machine made by Jura-Capresso, which describes an experience quite different from my own, so in the interest of fair play, I feel compelled to speak up. One of the best things in life is a good cup of coffee and this machine (the Z6) is heaven. It makes the thickest frothiest cappuccino with the push of a single button. It costs a year's pay, but it's worth every penny. And it's beautiful. I have had lots of coffee makers over the years, many of them by Jura-Capresso, (and many from other manufacturers), but my experience with this company has been more than satisfactory; they are super. When something goes wrong or you are confused about something, their help line answers immediately and they walk you through to a solution, and are always competent and very nice. I've given old machines to my daughters and when the one of them finally can't be fixed over the phone, the old machine can be sent in and refurbished for a nominal fee or a trade in is offered with a discount on a new machine. I recommend these machines heartily.

Combining dramatic aesthetics with advanced technology, this fully automatic coffee center makes delicious espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, and crema coffee with just the touch of a button. Eight beverage buttons can be programmed to accommodate individual preferences with the unit's unique rotary dial, which allows for changing the coffee strength, coffee volume, and more. The coffee center's integrated, commercial, solid-steel conical burr grinder offers quiet operation and six fineness settings for any type of bean, while its automatic pre-ground funnel system accommodates pre-ground coffee--great for making decaf coffee drinks when entertaining.
The unit's two-step pre-infusion cycle moistens and conditions the ground coffee for maximum flavor extraction with perfect crema topping. And for consistently professional results, two stainless-steel-lined ThermoBlock heating systems are always ready for coffee and steam with no downtime, no contact with aluminum, and no taste transfers due to the internal stainless-steel layout. The unit serves up the coffee and adds hot, frothed milk without ever having to move the cup--its dual-nozzle system with two separate outlets for milk and coffee makes it possible. Moreover, short and long dual nozzle systems accommodate different-sized cups.
The unit comes equipped with an 18-bar power pump, an illuminated brewing area, a separate height-adjustable hot-water spout, a 10-ounce bean container, and a 20-ounce stainless-steel thermal milk container. Designed in chrome-plated metal housing with a unique mirror LED display, the 1,350-watt machine makes for a beautiful addition to any home or small office. Made in Switzerland, the coffee center measures 16-1/2 by 12-1/2 by 14 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Saeco Talea Touch Plus Automatic Espresso Machine Review

Saeco Talea Touch Plus Automatic Espresso Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I thought this would be the machine of my dreams, (at this price it should be!), it is not. My machine will not "wake up" from standby mode or put itself into standby mode, so I have to wait in the morning for it to heat up. Which completely eliminates why I bought the $$$ machine rather than the $ machine. I will be returning it, but here is the lowdown on how it works.
This machine will grind up to 10ish grams of coffee and dispense that into a maximum of 18ish ounces of water (you get less coffee though b/c the puck absorbs some of that water). You can set each of the three icons to dispense whatever custom combination of temperature(a,b,c), preinfusion time (a,b, off), grind volume (a,b,c, preground) and water volume (slider on 1.5" bar adjustable by roughly 1/20th of an ounce) you would like and there is a dial on the front to additionally control how long the water takes to pass through the puck which affects the "Strength" of the coffee.
Rather than using the somewhat inscrutable "coffee volume" slider you can manually do a beverage and hit the "stop" button when you want it to stop flowing, and then save that setting. So for me to get my morning thermos of 16oz of strong crema coffee I had to program "Long Coffee" to be preinfusion=strong, aroma(amount of beans ground)=strong, turn the front dial all the way to the right and I had to hit "Stop" when it filled my measuring cup with 8oz coffee and save it, which meant that when I hit "Long Coffee" twice (it will do twice in a row if you hit it twice but no more than that) it would spew out 16oz of coffee.
So theoretically (were it to wake itself up in the morning) all I would have to do is hit that button twice and put my cup (thermos is too tall) under there to catch it, it would take about 3 minutes or more to fill that cup. As it is I have to wait for it to "Rinse" (put a cup under the spout to catch the "Rinse"), and then warm up before I can have coffee. It doesn't take long, but it seems long when you are walking out the door, like more than 5 minutes for coffee, when I could just pour it out from a regular automatic grind_n_brew pot and be on my way.
I have additionally programmed the "Coffee" icon to make me a 12oz mug when pressed twice and my "Espresso" button to make me a long espresso, which when I press twice gives me a nice amount for my latte.
Ugh, my latte, the frothing on this thing is vexing. I can froth and latte art pretty well with a regular one hole steam wand, and always prided myself on my microfoam. I can barely steam milk with this thing. The steam wand on the left moves about two inches fore or aft but does not move up or down or swing out in any way. So my milk pitcher is always smacking into the spouts on the front. The rubber handle on the steam wand (so you don't get burned moving it) is so close to the bottom of the wand that once your milk starts frothing you can't push the wand back to the bottom of the milk container or it will come up over the handle. Once you are done steaming you can't just rest your milk under the steam wand (to catch the drips) because the drip tray is curved and the steam wand is over the narrow part, so your jug of milk would just fall off the tray.
The drip tray is electric which is stupid, small and flimsy. It is bound to fail and doesn't hold your full cup without bending almost enough that your cup is going to slide right onto the floor. I would just leave it at the bottom setting unless you are really pulling shots into two tiny espresso cups.
How's the coffee you ask. It's decent. You wouldn't be disappointed if you paid $2.50 for it, but it is not the best espresso you've ever had, or even close to the espresso I can make on my semi-automatic machine. But it's faster and I can do it with less effort. The grind seems fine enough and the temperature seems hot enough to do a good extraction, no sourness or bitterness (left temp on medium as it came set on). It is crema coffee, not drip, so don't expect it to taste like your coffee maker. Some of the crema is fake and white due to the dial being turned all the way to the right and creating that extra sort-of fake back pressure on the puck, so it can seem floamy, but dialing it back a notch fixes that without affecting strength.
It's prompts you to fill the water tank when it is 3/4 empty and dump the pucks when there are maybe 6 of them in there, so you might as well just make it a habit to do them both at the same time anyway b/c it will stop your coffee and prompt you to do so and if you take too long it will cancel your coffee and dump your puck even if you didn't get all the way done.
The bypass doser only accepts one scoop of preground coffee at a time so don't think you will be making anything other than decaf single small pucks and then pulling your desired quantity of water through them.

Jura ENA 9 One Touch Review

Jura ENA 9 One Touch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let me first state that I have only had this for two days and that this is my first espresso machine. I say this so readers will understand that this quick "review" is to point out a couple of details that may be overlooked when researching this machine, not as an indication of the quality of drink produced.
I began doing research on home espresso machines several years ago after drinking coffee prepared by my dad on his Jura Cappresso E8. It was a revelation to drink such good quality coffee outside of a coffee shop. At the time my wife didn't care for coffee so it was only me drinking a single cup in the morning with breakfast so I was put off by the high prices and ended up buying a grind and brew automatic drip coffee maker by Cuisinart. I bought it "open box" at a kitchen store for a hundred bucks and I was pleased enough with it. Fast forward a few years and now my wife enjoys cappuccinos and lattes and drinks coffee with me daily, albeit with a lot of cream and sweetener. She also stops at the local coffee bar for a flavored cappuccino with some regularity. So I started looking into a quality espresso machine for the home again.
I spent a lot of time educating myself on the various makers, such as Jura, DeLonghi, Gaggia, Saeco, etc. I knew that I wanted to get a superautomatic as we aren't purists, nor do we have the time usually to pull our own shots, froth our own milk, etc. At the end of the day, it came down to the various Jura Onetouch models, the Gaggia Accademia Espresso Machine, and the DeLonghi ESAM5500M Perfecta Digital Super-Automatic Espresso Machine, Metallic Blue. My research led me to have a little less confidence in the DeLonghi's reliability, although I liked their milking system. The Gaggia was just too much for me to spend on my first machine (or last for that matter more than likely). My dad has never had the first problem with his Jura and it's more than 5 years old and likely has not had much maintenance or cleaning I suspect so I feel it will hold up to the reasonably light use we will give a machine. The Jura-Capresso 13422 Impressa C9 One Touch Automatic Coffee-and-Espresso Center, Black and Jura-Capresso 13423 Impressa S9 One Touch Automatic Coffee-and-Espresso Center, Platinum are older models, larger and more expensive than the ENA series. So due to the features, the quality, and the fact that it was the least expensive, I decided to purchase this machine.
Now, to the machine. The first thing I should point out is that it is a unique design for Jura. The other one touch machines work differently, which I didn't realize when I made my decision. The key point to this is that THERE IS NO EXTERNAL FROTHER. If you want to froth milk manually you can't do it. And it is not equipped with their Connect System either, which would allow you to change out the external wand with a frothing wand. The wand on the ENA9 is only a hot water spout. I would have preferred to have the option for manual frothing, both for experience and as a backup. The other nice thing about manual frothers as they are easier to clean. I mention this in case you, like me, didn't notice the lack of a frothing steam wand. The internal frother does microfroth, which is a pleasure. You can purchase a Capresso frothPRO for less than steam wand would cost if you really want to froth manually (but it's a different method of frothing.
This machine is really designed to optimize the one touch functionality. It works best when you set your preferences and store them. The preferences you can store are water volume (up to 12 oz), strength of espresso, duration of milk froth and temperature. You set these for espresso, cappuccino and coffee individually. If you want more or less of any of these parameters I think you have to go in and change the preferences. I may be wrong about this as I'm still getting my preferences set but I haven't found a way of pulling a one off variety yet. Honestly, I pretty much want the same thing every time anyway so it's not that much of an issue.
The one touch feature is nice. All you have to do is put the sialastic hose into your milk source, slip your cup under the nozzle and push the cappuccino button on top of the machine. A few minutes later, depending on your chosen froth duration, there is your cappuccino. Of course don't bother with the milk for coffee or espresso.
There have been criticisms of the ENA series regarding the small capacity of the water tank and bean hopper. One of the compromises of having a smaller machine on your counter is that the capacities are smaller. My dad loves his large capacity water tank because he can drink coffee all day without refilling it. I personally like to have fresh water and beans so having to fill them up frequently doesn't bother me in the least, but as I stated, we are not high volume drinkers either.
The last point I would make is that there is a fair amount of maintenance with this machine, IF YOU USE MILK. I don't think it is unique to this machine but is typical of the superautomatics in general. My dad only drinks espresso or coffee which is probably why he can get by without cleaning his often. You are supposed to rinse or preferably clean the cappuccino portion after each brewing session. It is very simple to do but may get to be a pain on a daily basis. You just run the machine through it's cappuccino cleaning cycle, using water or Jura's proprietary cappuccino cleaning liquid Jura-Capresso 63801 Auto Cappuccino Concentrate, 250 ml and manually rinse the frothing tube and a few rubber pieces inside. It's a small hassle but likely necessary as milk will cake on the internals and I'm sure halt the function of the frother if neglected like any other milk frother. Another reason for an external frothing option. Using filtered water, or the in tank Jura filter will cut down if not eliminate the need to descale the machine supposedly.
The ENA series boasts an energy efficient option of auto shut down, the timing of which you can customize. So, if you like to save energy, the machine will automatically turn off after a set period of time. This would not be an attractive feature if you are like my dad and enjoy walking up to the machine any time of day and pulling a cup of coffee. You would have to turn it on each time. It doesn't take long to heat up again but it does prompt you to rinse on each start up. You don't have to use the auto shut off but it's there if you want.
All in all I believe this will be an excellent purchase. I got what I wanted but wish it had an optional external frother like the C9 and S9. The frothXpress system added to an ENA5 might be a little cheaper and a little more versatile but not as convenient and the frothing may not be as high quality. I hope this has helped you in your research of this high quality machine.

Saeco Aroma - Espresso Machine Review

Saeco Aroma - Espresso Machine
Average Reviews:

This machine works great, it is heavy duty metal case and does delicious creamy espresso. This machine does not leak like the gaggia I tryed before and for the price it is far the best I used. If you get it from Amazon you will get the best service ever! The water tank on the back is removable to fill and clean, the water retention tank for the coffee drops below is also removable, easy to clean, big enough and of very good quality. The metal grill does not rust and the portafila is solid. Saeco is the perfect Italian espresso lover's machine and it is so solid that it's like it was German made and not Italian :) I checked a lot of brands, models and review and that's from far the best I found for the bucks. I owned fully automatic machines for 10x the price paid here and that one is doing better espresso than any of them... This machine is a hit!

Designed for those who seriously enjoy coffee, this easy-to-use traditional espresso machine features a stainless-steel boiler and a powerful 15-bar pump for producing excellent cafe-quality espresso, cappuccino, and lattes from the comfort of home. The unit allows for making espresso without having to measure out the ground coffee dose, and its pressure filter can accept a wide range of espresso grinds while still giving good crema. Thanks to its pod adaptor, industry-standard E.S.E. pods (prepackaged doses of coffee) fit perfectly into the pressurized portafilter, with no mess to clean up afterwards. Even more, the included steam and hot-water wand with exclusive Pannarello frothing device dispenses steam in three different directions, making it easy to froth milk for cappuccinos and lattes, plus it dispenses hot water for tea, hot chocolate, or instant soups. Other highlights include a simple control panel with back-lit buttons, an 85-ounce removable water tank, a cup-warming surface, and a removable drip tray. Made in Italy, the 950-watt traditional espresso machine measures 8 by 10 by 11-3/4 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Saeco Aroma Espresso & Cappuccino Pump Machine Review

Saeco Aroma Espresso and Cappuccino Pump Machine

Fine machine. Brews an excellent shot with good head. Heats up quickly and the durability has been excellent. Steams well but it definitely takes longer than I'm used to. I have this one at work but the 30013 at home which I think is an even better model. Brews and steams much quicker and while the case is the same the push buttons on this one feel less solid than the flip switches on the 30013.

Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill (CCM-16PC1) Review

Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill (CCM-16PC1)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Don't believe that ANY grinder in this price range will be the ultimate grinder for all your grinding needs. I read with amusement as some reviewers slammed this grinder for not grinding well enough to use with their espresso machines. I own this machine for use with my drip coffee maker only. I own a $500+ Mazzer Grinder for my espresso machine. The point being, that for the absolute consistent grind needed for use with espresso, you better be willing to step up significantly in price. That said, on to this grinder review.
Considering there are no decent blade grinders on the market - including those in the $25 price range, the best grinder to have is a burr grinder. Burr grinders do not create the heat that destroys the flavor of your beans and creates a more uniformed grind. Burr grinders do not produce the large "chunks" of beans in varying size that a blade grinder does. I have yet to see any missed "untouched" beans find their way past the burrs (as one reviewer claimed) and find that hard to believe, considering beans can only pass through the small space between the burrs and would thus be ground on their way through. You may get some bean smaller than your setting, but will not get anything larger than your setting.
As with any burr grinder under $200 this grinder does create some powder. It creates a lot of powder if you attempt to grind at its' finest setting (called Turkish Coffee). For drip coffee makers though, a mid-range toward coarse setting doesn't produce enough powder to be a concern when using paper filters in your coffee maker and a GOOD bean to start with. I sometimes wonder if the complaints of "bitterness" from some reviewers isn't a problem with their bean choice or their water temperature. As a drinker of 100% Kona in my drip maker, I have yet to taste a bitter cup of coffee, even with the less than a tsp. of powder that is present in my freshly ground coffee.
Noisy? Yes, but no more noisy than some and less noisy than most in this price range. A grinder of this size will create noise, but unless you plan on grinding 24/7 that is to be expected. My guests are actually enthralled by the noise and the ability to watch fresh beans meet their demise (I hang with a morbid crowd) as the beans slowly disappear down the hopper. The timer is a nice touch if noise is a concern. The fact that you can turn it on, leave the room and return in a minute or two (avoiding the noise) to find the unit automatically shut off should make those with sensitive hearing happy.
This grinder has a decent weight to it, making it feel sturdy on your countertop. The S/S body also gives the appearance of a well built machine and makes it more stylish than your standard black plastic neoprene models being produced by other manufacturers. This is a solid, sturdy, and well built machine for this price.
If there are complaints that you should be warned about, it is the age old problem of static cling caused by the use of plastic for the grounds receiver. Cuisinart should have used glass to receive the grounds. I would have gladly paid an extra $3 on the final price in order to avoid dealing with the static cling found in every machine that uses plastic for this purpose. The other is the clean-up, if you are as anal as I am about coffee equipment. Again, the static cling is annoying, but I keep a slim painters brush nearby for the purpose of brushing out the chute and receiver which makes the task quick and easy. It loses a star for the static cling issues, but I guess every grinder in this price range has the same problem because they use plastic.
Overall, for under $50 this is a very good machine for the price.

With its unique extraction system designed specifically for coffee-filled capsules, this single-serve automatic espresso machine prepares perfect espresso every time. The unit perforates the hermetically sealed capsule and soaks all the ground coffee to optimally filter the coffee, while its high-pressure 19-bar pump extracts all the aromas and gives body to the espresso, ensuring a smooth crema--the delicious creamy layer on top. In addition, the machine's ThermoBlock heating system heats water to 187 degrees and 196 degrees during extraction and empties the remaining water after each use to ensure fresh water every time. Used capsules eject automatically into the used-capsule collection container upon lifting the handle. Other highlights include automatic control of the amount of coffee in the cup, a backlit control button, electronic temperature regulation, and a removable 34-ounce water container. The espresso machine only uses capsules, not any other ground espresso, but Nespresso provides a range of premium coffee blends, including decaffeinated. An assortment of 12 capsules comes included. Compactly designed in sleek, modern housing, the automatic espresso machine measures 10 by 6-2/5 by 11-1/2 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.
