Jura-Capresso 13185 Impressa F7 Espresso Machine, Silver Metallic Review

Jura-Capresso 13185 Impressa F7 Espresso Machine, Silver Metallic
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After 7 years or so of using a bulletproof Starbucks Barista which produced great espresso and copious microfoam, I bought this machine for my wife for Christmas (although she swears it was yet another gift to myself). The build quality and ease of use is great. The espresso is very good (but not up to the standards of a well pulled shot off a semi-auto). Nevertheless, the lack of any mess and pushbutton convenience outweighs any complaints about the quality of the shot - don't get me wrong, it pulls a very nice shot. What it doesnt do well is create the beautiful microfoam an experienced user can get using a traditional steam wand. All of these super-autos have that annoying steam-assist wand which is supposed to require no skill to create foam. Unfortunately all it does it create these large crappy bubbles and very little foam. To make matters worse, the side steam holes get clogged very easily and then the result is NO FOAM. I called wholelattelove and Capresso looking for a solution and they each had no clue either (a) how to solve the problem, or (b) why in the world I didnt like the crappy large soap bubble excuse for microfoam. Well for $8 I found a Krups metal steam tip off the net (go to culinaryparts.com for a $1.99 steam tip plus $6 shipping) and screwed it on to the end of the metal wand after having discarded the useless steaming aid sleeve and old plastic tip, and VOILA! -- awesome foam made in half the time I could do the same thing with my old Starbucks Barista. These machines all have a Thermoblock for steaming unlike the traditional boiler on a better semi-auto. Nevertheless it is enough and the foam is first rate as I said. The only other thing to be aware of is that these machines cant use my beloved Peats coffee beans - too oily and they get stuck in the hopper- so I am still searching for a good dark roast which is not too oily. But for now after a month of use, I am happy with the espresso and the foam and delighted to make my morning cap with a minimum of effort. The F7 in particular is a great machine as against the other Juras. It is more programmible than the E* and much simpler to use (and smaller footprint) than the pricier units. I almost bought the F9 but there is just too much to think about on that machine and the bright chrome is a bit too shiny and pretentious. The F7 is the perfect mix of functionality and understated good looks. It is also the newest technology from Jura so it has some small touches that the F9 doesnt have, such as a 120 second steam timer versus the 60 second timer on the F9.
Update to the above review:
After many more months of use I am loving the Jura F7, and I found the beans to use: Blue Bottle Coffee Hayes Valley Espresso. Not too oily but very flavorful. Perfect for this machine. Better than Peats, and definitely fresher. I am not going to list their website here cause I dont want to look like a shill for them. But you can find them, I am confident. They will mail out to you for no additional cost.
By the way, the review above that says the F7 is a shinier version of the E8 is incorrect. The basic mechanism may be the same, but the programming functions and other nice features are significantly different. If you're already spending this much coin, the F7 is a better deal than the E8. Just my humble opinion.

This works great for our automatic coffee center, for cleaning parts after frothing. It's fast and easy, and there's no milk residue afterwards.

Frothing and steaming can leave behind small milk droplets inside the frothXpress Plus or the Dual Frother. With this 250 ml bottle of Capresso auto cappuccino concentrate, there's no need to worry about bad milk smells or clogged frothing parts. At the end of the day, just throw all the parts that come in contact with milk into a cup with 6 ounces of water and a 1/2 ounce of the special concentrate. All milk fat will be removed in less than 10 minutes--or just let it sit overnight. The concentrated solution effectively dissolves milk deposits from all frothing systems.

Saeco S-PTP Primea Touch Plus Super-Automatic Espresso Machine Review

Saeco S-PTP Primea Touch Plus Super-Automatic Espresso Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Not only did this machine break after 2 months (an error message indicated that I had to return the machine to the manufacturer to have the "computer board" fixed), the customer service was awful. I had to call repeatedly to get help, including numerous messages with the Customer Service Supervisor, who never called me back at all. This machine is also very high-maintenance - if you're buying it for milk drinks, be prepared for an extremely rigid cleaning procedure, which is an enormous hassle. I strongly encourage people to avoid this machine. I would suggest the Jura Z5, which does cost about $400 more, but at this price point, save yourself the aggravation.

Blending simplicity with state-of-the-art technology, this super-automatic espresso machine provides an array of convenient features. Its intuitive color touch-screen display makes it easy to prepare espresso or a favorite coffee drink with only minimal effort in just a few seconds. Brewing two coffee drinks simultaneously is also possible by simply touching an icon, and each of the six drink icons can be programmed for custom milk and coffee dispensing.
Equipped with a stainless-steel heating system, the espresso machine delivers a maximum pressure of 15 bars to pull the most flavor from coffee beans. Its patented brewing system adjusts for different coffee beverages from American coffee to deep espresso, and the adjustable grinder, doser, and pre-brewing cycle allow for coffee to be customized to individual tastes. In addition, the unit's ceramic grinder produces a more even grind, allowing perfect dosing and blending, and offering more control over the density and body of the coffee. The all-in-one machine grinds whole beans, doses the perfect amount of ground coffee, tamps, brews, and discards the used grounds into an internal waste box.
For added convenience, the espresso machine provides readily available "immediate steam" due to its reliable double boiler system, plus a fully integrated milk container and frother. Any milk that may be left in the machine after frothing or steaming is removed with push-button cleaning cycles. The unit's 68-ounce water reservoir can be lifted off the machine for convenient filling and comes fitted for Aqua Prima water filtration, which works to reduce flavor-altering substances and filter micro-particles and impurities. Other highlights include a coffee-bean storage hopper, an adjustable drip tray, a removable brew group for chemical-free cleaning, and a convenient swivel base for countertop use. The espresso machine measures 18 by 14 by 15 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Perfecta Super Automatic Espresso Maker Review

Perfecta Super Automatic Espresso Maker

Buyer Beware. This machine puts up a good front, however, after about six months it stops working. Cheaply made. Sent off for repairs and after two months it was sent back to me only to work for another two weeks before breaking again. Delonghi seems to be content with having the machine in transit and repair longer than in my kitchen. Very poor product. Very high price. Stick with your local gourmet coffee shop.
Main problems: Milk frother will not work. Leaks water from the bottom of the machine.

DeLonghi ESAM6700 Gran Dama Avant Touch-Screen Super-Automatic Espresso Machine Review

DeLonghi ESAM6700 Gran Dama Avant Touch-Screen Super-Automatic Espresso Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been looking for the perfect automatic coffee/espresso machine for a long time. I have been to the big coffee websites. I've read all the reviews. And finally, with some trepidation, I laid down half my children's inheritance to purchase this DeLonghi Gran Dama machine, based on the couple of reviews that I found that placed it in a positive light.
Was it worth it? Is it right for you? Well, read on and learn everything there is to know about it from a guy who has put this machine through its paces for two months.
The Pros:
- Automatic burr grinder built in that grinds from a pre-filled bean reservoir. This is very convenient and it makes a fresh and fragrant cup of stuff.
- Good temperature on the coffee, and it gets to that temperature very quickly. Never overly hot. Never tepid. Just right.
- The unit is surprisingly small and compact considering all that it is capable of. It fits perfectly into the slot that my old Capresso coffee pot occupied -- a machine that only made coffee, nothing else.
- Does it make a good cup 'o joe? Answer: Yes. It makes just as good a cup of regular coffee as what I get from the Peets store down the street. And this is what I was ultimately looking for. For the coffee alone, it is great. Far better than any machine I have ever owned previously (I have owned, I think, five machines from three manufacturers, at this point).
The Cons:
- Not really a very big deal, but the machine is pretty loud. It buzzes really, really abrasively when it is heating and grinding. I had seen this issue mentioned in other reviews, so I was prepared. But you should know that it is LOUD.
- The machine is not well designed. It is very difficult to get into in order to empty the grounds, fill the water tank and to clean. You have to really go through quite a bit of shenanigans to get inside. To dump the grounds, you have to remove the drip tray (which doesn't just slide out simply as one would expect, you kind of have to wiggle it to get it to come loose). Then, you can't actually pry the door open with your hands, it just kind of flops open when you pull out the tray, which feels ungainly and incorrectly seated, somehow. But that's how it works. Then, you continue to pull the drip tray toward you and the ground container tries to come out, but gets stuck on one corner. You have to reach in, grab the grounds container and maneuver it out of the compartment. At this point, you've pulled out the drip tray (which has a floppy piece that has probably come loose at this point, more on that later), the door is open exposing the entire inner portion of the machine and all it's mechanical stuff, and then there's the very hard to get to grounds container. Assuming you can hold all this stuff in place or have the counter space for it all, you can go and dump the grounds and then just muscle everything back into place again. It's really, really inconvenient and ungainly. And if you have the milk container installed, you have to first remove that in order to access the door -- and that is a whole other issue as I will detail next.
- The milk frothing container is very flimsy and feels cheap. Mine hasn't broken yet, but I am absolutely convinced it won't make it through another two months, and here's why. It's made of a lot of plastic pieces that sort of don't really fit together well. It is rickety. All in all, it works pretty well at making hot and frothy milk (I stress pretty well, because it is kind of hit and miss as to whether it decides to behave each time -- mine isn't working at the moment which I will also address shortly). But it is really, really hard to push the container into its little valve connection on the front of the machine, and even harder to pull out, again. In fact, my wife refuses to install and uninstall because it takes so much muscle. She just can't do it. It should just slide easily in and out. Instead, you really have to push hard to wedge it into place, and unless your machine is up against a wall, it will be pushed right along with it. And when you pull the milk container out, you have to seriously jerk the container to get it to come out -- I'm not kidding here, it's rough. And the flimsy handle on this container is going to break off, I just know it. And I almost feel that this is by design so that I will have to buy a new one from DeLonghi at forty or fifty bucks, or whatever they charge. I know I'm being snarky, but why else would they stick such a crappy attachment onto such an outrageously expensive machine? Up sales, I think they call it in the business. Anyway, when you jerk the container out, if there is any amount of milk left in it, it is going to slurp out onto the floor. The top of the container is not sealed well. And many a mess has ensued. And lastly, this container three times out of ten does not register on the machine as being properly seated. And then you have to jerk it out and shove it back in sometimes three times before it beeps to say you have put it in properly. The funny thing is, there is only one way to put it in. So for the machine to say it is not installed properly is absolutely incorrect. It is aggravating, believe me.
- After only two months, the milk container (which has two settings, hot milk and hot frothed milk) only registers one of the settings. I can no longer make frothed milk, only hot milk. The microwave does this same task in a much easier fashion, so unless I can get the company to replace or fix it, I will probably just stop using the milk jug entirely -- which will make my wife happy. I imagine this is all due to the constant hard shoving in and out of the container. Frankly, I am surprised it lasted this long. Again, at this cost, I shouldn't be having problems after two months of use.
- Okay, enough about the friggin' milk jug. My biggest overall complaint with this machine is that it has all kinds of sensors on it (hard water detector, milk container detector, etc.), but it isn't smart enough to tell you when it is low on water, when the grounds container needs emptying or when it doesn't have enough beans. And this creates a most frustrating scenario. It seems that every other morning, I forget to check all three of those things (and remember, it is REALLY hard to get to the grounds container, so there is no way to check its fullness without a major surgical entry.) The machine will actually STOP right in the middle of preparing a cup of coffee to tell me to fill the water tank, empty the grounds, put more beans in or to descale the device. Are you kidding me? With all those sensors that are already there they couldn't figure a way for one of them to show you before you start brewing that there is a work stoppage impending? And then, after filling the beans or dumping the grounds or whatever, the machine doesn't even start the coffee where it left off. You have to throw away your half cup of whatever because it probably is not strong enough or properly brewed, yet. And then you have to start the whole process over. You just wasted coffee beans, water and, most importantly, time. This is beyond frustrating.
- As mentioned a moment ago, the descaling feature is really annoying. It pops up unexpectedly and won't let you do anything until the descaling is carried out. And you have to stay with the machine for the full thirty minutes that it descales because you have to fill and dump the water reservoir multiple times during the process. I walked away during the first descaling and the machine reset itself back to the very beginning of the process. I could not make a cup of coffee until I stood there for the full thirty minutes and let it go through its thing. And even more annoying, I only use distilled water, anyway. So, theoretically, I shouldn't have to descale at all, or not as often as it wants me to. In my busy world, this standing down to watch over a machine for thirty minutes completely discredits the "automatic" moniker.
- Who at DeLonghi decided that two and a half ounces of coffee fills a coffee cup? They have five brew size settings, none of which fills my standard American sized coffee cup. Come on, sell us a machine in the USA that fills a cup in the USA! Granted, you can make one custom setting, referred to as 'my coffee' which allows you to fill a proper cup. And I use this setting solely in my world. All of the other settings are completely useless.
- There is a so-called two cup setting (which barely fills two thimbles -- thimbles for six year old children, at that) and this procedure works fine UNLESS you want to use the milk jug in the drink preparation. You can't fit two cups and the milk container on the base at the same time, despite what the directions insinuate. So you can't actually prepare two cappuccinos or lattes. You can only make two thimbles of straight coffee with this configuration. Not a big deal for me. But beware. This really is a one cup at a time brewing device.
- The drip tray that your cup sits on is very close to the coffee dispenser nozzle. Therefore, you can only use smaller sized coffee cups with the machine. DeLonghi has built in a very oddly shaped and poorly configured "trap door" thingy that folds up with some difficulty and then allows another half inch of clearance for your cup. However, the width of the trap door is so minimal that any slightly taller cup that I have doesn't fit into this depression. Basically, you can put a really tall demitasse type cup into there, but nothing else. It is nearly a useless scenario. They should have made it bigger. Not to mention, the trap door falls off and clatters onto the floor constantly when moving the drip tray, cleaning, etc. It is a poorly...Read more›

Krups XP9000 Super-Automatic Espresso Machine and Coffee Center, Charcoal Review

Krups XP9000 Super-Automatic Espresso Machine and Coffee Center, Charcoal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just got my machine today and decided to stay up to write this review since I drank so many cups of espresso. I got this machine when Amazon had it on their Lightning Deals and decided to take a chance since it was such a good deal. The unit arrived in perfect condition and well packaged. It looks like the packaging is from Krups. All Amazon had to do was slap a label on it and ship it. The start up guide is easy to follow. The only problem I had was it kept asking me to fill the bean containter. It was already full. I powered cycle the unit and then it worked. I love the way the frother works. You just add milk to the cup, lower the steam nozzle and it takes care of the rest. No need to move the cup. Cleaning is easy. You can use pre-ground coffee with by-pass shaft. If you want to make a cup of decaf, you can do that without having to empty the bean container. The grinding mechanism is quieter than most units I have tried before. The only thing that I am wondering about is the amount of fluid in the drip tray after I brew a cup. I'm not sure if that is normal.
Pros
----
* Easy to use
* Excellent coffee and espresso
* Heats up fast
* Ability to specify how much of espresso or cup of coffee i.e. 2 oz
* Frother design - no need to move the cup or use a separate milk container
* Large bean and water containers
* A way to by-pass the beans in the container and use something else
* A nice slot in the back for sliding in the manual for storage
* It is quiet relative to other super auto machines
* Sturdy and well made (Made in Switzerland, 36 lbs)
Cons
----
* It is big! To open the lids for the water and beans, I have to slide
the unit out from under my cabinets. I put felt feet on the unit
so it can slide out easily for cleaning under and for adding beans/water.
* There is no way to take up the extra length of the power cord. My unit
sits right in front of a power plug so I have a lot of extra cord that is
hard to hide. I'll add two stick-on hooks and wind the cord around them.
* The power plug takes up another 3" of counter space. They should have
made it a flat right angle plug.
* The manual needs more details. It didn't cover all the features and
are light on some descriptions. Perhaps a link to a website for more
information.

Jura Impressa Z7 One-Touch Automatic Coffee Center Review

Jura Impressa Z7 One-Touch Automatic Coffee Center
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I previously owned the S8 for about 7 years and after it broke, I decided to upgrade. I love the way Jura will repair a broken super automatic for 275.00 including round trip shipping no matter what the problem but I still wanted a newer model. I did a great deal of research on superautomatics and even bought a Saeco Xelsis. Unfortunately I had to return it as the latte temp never got above 120 degrees despite calling Saeco and working with their support line. I then bought a Jura Z7 as the manual stated that the milk could be heated up to 159 degrees and the espresso/ coffee up to 197 degrees. I love hot coffee/latte. After trying out the Xelsis, I wanted to buy a sure thing that I knew would make me happy. However, the milk at first came out about 130-140 degrees. It took three calls to Jura to figure out how to get the milk to the temp to what they advertise. One helpful person told me to pinch the tubing exiting the milk container before it enters the machine. This slows the stream of milk and increases its exposure to the heating elements but who wants to spend 3 grand on a machine and have to jury with it to get the milk hot enough. Finally, I was told of two things to do to get the milk temp up and how to keep the temp up in the cup. First, when putting the empty cup under the cappucino spout, press the milk button while the cappucino dial is set on steam water. This will spray very hot steam out of the cappucino spout into the cup. This heats up the tubing in the machine and heats up the cup. The third and most important thing is to align the notch in the cappucino spout dial on the border between the steam water icon and the steam milk icon. After flow begins, turn the dial counter-clockwise until the notch is actually into the steam water section but not so far that it stops the milk flow. By doing this I was able to get my milk temps up to the 180s (checking the temps as the milk exits the spout and before it hits the cup). NOW, I could not be happier with the taste AND and the temp of my lattes. Go Jura!!!

Well we tried the Gaggia Titanium and we did not like it at all (too loud, too big, odd settings).. This one, the gaggia Swing up is PERFECT! We can do Ristretto (tiny concentrated espresso). Noise level is very good. and the machine is too big at all! The only small minus is that the water tank coud have been a bit bigger but it would mean a bulkier machine (can't have it all). Access to the tank and the coffee dumps is very easy (much easier than the titanium model). I highly recommend it! oh I almost forgot the milk island attachment is SO good too! THe milk is froth to perfection, easy to do a creamy hot chocolate with it in less than a minute!

Brew cafe-quality espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, and more from the comfort of home with this automatic espresso machine. Its intuitive programming menu includes a digital LCD screen and touch ring controls that make it easy to select the aroma strength, temperature, menu language, clock and timer settings, and much more. The unit's built-in ceramic burr grinder ensures the freshest results, while its 8-4/5-ounce bean hopper offers adjustable ground-coffee dosage from 7 to 10-1/2 grams. Select mild to strong beverages while maintaining a perfect crema thanks to the Espresso Plus System. The appliance also comes equipped with 15-bar pump pressure and a stainless-steel-lined boiler with a rapid-steam boiler system, which means no waiting between frothing milk and brewing espresso. The included Pannarello steam wand takes the guesswork out of frothing milk for thick cappuccinos and lattes, plus provides hot water for tea, hot cocoa, or soup. A Milk Island accessory unit also comes included. Simply attach it to the machine, fill it with milk, and it will automatically steam and froth milk in seconds.
Furthermore, the espresso machine can prepare two cups at the same time, while its stainless-steel, actively heated cup warmer helps maintain the integrity of freshly brewed espresso--pouring hot coffee into a cold cup can cool it down too quickly. Other highlights include a bypass doser for preground coffee, a 57-ounce removable water reservoir, an Aqua Prima water filter, an automatic height-adjustable drip tray, and a coffee-grounds container. The brewing unit removes for easy maintenance, and the machine's impact-resistant ABS plastic housing with a stainless-steel-finished front panel will look great on any kitchen counter. I bought the Wolfgang Puck espresso machine in May 2010 by August 2010 it stopped working. The LCD display just said water error message. The water would not run through the machine to make espresso or run its rinse cycle- the water would just run right out the bottom of the machine and all over my counter- what a mess. This machine is very large and heavy almost as big as a washing machine, (Kidding). I read that the water pump has had issues and the company is aware of it but still continues to try and unload this item. I bought mine from a store that does not have a return time frame so I was lucky. Buyer Beware!

Jura-Capresso 13339 Impressa Z5 Automatic Coffee/Espresso Center Review

Jura-Capresso 13339 Impressa Z5 Automatic Coffee/Espresso Center
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned Capresso machines for about the last 8 years or so. Just replaced my Z5. It is expensive but if coffee is important to you, it's worth it.
I can't tell you how much coffee we wasted making a pot at a time the old way. That drove me crazy. Single serve is the way to go. I finally figured out how to make capuchino's with the Z5 and it is so easy! I've got a family of 5 and everyone drinks them now so our machine gets alot of use. I'd venture to say 10 cups a day on average.
We started with a less expensive Capresso model and it worked great but we felt the coffee was not hot enough. We needed more horsepower. The very first Z5 we bought was a lemon and had to be returned. The next one was good for about 3 years until we got the dreaded "Error 8". I did alot of internet research on the best machines available. There was one that seemed very similar to the Z5 but was twice the price. There were others at a lower price but I either did not like the appearance or they did not have all the features. So we stuck with the Z5.
For the more math oriented, here's the way I look at it. If the machine costs $3 grand and lasts 3 years and you make 10 cups of coffee per day, the cost of the machine per cup is under 30 cents each. Then you need to add to that supplies, coffee, water, creamers etc.
Be warned that if you are new to this type of machine it takes some time to master its use.

Jura-Capresso 13419 Impressa Z6 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center Review

Jura-Capresso 13419 Impressa Z6 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center
Average Reviews:

I've never written a review before, but I noticed a customer had put the same review on every machine made by Jura-Capresso, which describes an experience quite different from my own, so in the interest of fair play, I feel compelled to speak up. One of the best things in life is a good cup of coffee and this machine (the Z6) is heaven. It makes the thickest frothiest cappuccino with the push of a single button. It costs a year's pay, but it's worth every penny. And it's beautiful. I have had lots of coffee makers over the years, many of them by Jura-Capresso, (and many from other manufacturers), but my experience with this company has been more than satisfactory; they are super. When something goes wrong or you are confused about something, their help line answers immediately and they walk you through to a solution, and are always competent and very nice. I've given old machines to my daughters and when the one of them finally can't be fixed over the phone, the old machine can be sent in and refurbished for a nominal fee or a trade in is offered with a discount on a new machine. I recommend these machines heartily.

Jura-Capresso 13422 Impressa C9 One Touch Automatic Coffee-and-Espresso Center, Black Review

Jura-Capresso 13422 Impressa C9 One Touch Automatic Coffee-and-Espresso Center, Black
Average Reviews:

we've had an S9 Jura for over 7 years and made over 6,000 coffees with it. It was a trooper and fantastic but sadly died on us so we wanted a replacement. I checked the specs for the S9 and C9 and seemed they were pretty much the same so for the price difference it felt living with a black and slimmer model with slightly less horsepower was a sensible trade-off.
The good;
1. Quiet
2. Small
3. Makes a nice cup of coffee (if administered well)
4. Button layout and customization is way easier than the old S9
The Bad
1. Black is not as attractive as the silver and also shows marks easier
2. Water filters are different sizes to the S9 (had a stock so that's a little annoying)
3. All the essentials feel twice as small as the S9 and a pain.. the milk container cannot even support two Lattes, the water container is too small and the coffee store is also.
4. The One-Touch button makes for a warm and hot coffee so is also a pointless feature IMO.
5. Fixed steam spout so with large cups it will be a pain to remove them without spilling
When we made a coffee with the S9 and new with the C9 we put the coffee in first, fill the milk and 3/4 up we switch to steam and give it a blast for the heat. This on either machine makes a fabulous coffee but negates the value of the one-touch.
If I were doing this again, I'd go for either a cheaper model knowing the one-touch is pointless and if budget is the concern OR I'd sucked it in and gone for the S9 for the added capacity.. For me I wish I'd chosen the S9 as the capacity thing will probably grind on me more than anything else.. but the above will give you an idea of variances.
All this said, I LOVE Jura, for the years we've had them, they're reliable, provide great service and well worth the investment. I'll begrudgingly live with the C9 knowing I made the wrong choice,.. Hope this helps your decision process..

With an exceptionally compact design and user-friendly front-panel controls, this automatic coffee-and-espresso center creates cafe-quality coffee drinks without ever having to move the cup. Simply push a preprogrammed beverage button for one or two coffees, one or two espressos, cappuccino, milk, or hot water. The countertop appliance comes equipped with an insulated 14-ounce thermal stainless-steel milk container, which stays right next to the machine and keeps cold milk cold for up to eight hours. The machine will steam and froth the milk; grind, tamp, and high-pressure brew coffee or espresso; then dispense automatically into the cup. Its commercial-grade conical burr grinder offers six fineness settings for any type of bean--from light to dark roasts, while a separate funnel for pre-ground coffee allows for making no-hassle decaf or flavored coffee drinks. The unit features an 18-bar power pump with a 1450-watt stainless-steel-lined ThermoBlock heating system, and its two-step pre-infusion cycle moistens and conditions ground coffee for maximum flavor extraction with perfect crema topping.

Choose from two temperature settings, three strength levels, and volume--one or two cups at a time, from 1 to a full 16 ounces. Turn the rotary dial to make changes during brewing without changing the programmed setting. Plus, the steam output can be set to a certain time for filling cup after cup with the exact same amount of hot steamed or frothed milk, which means no more wasted milk. A bright 10-digit LED display dialog system gives short, simple instructions like "ready", "heating", "fill water", and "clean unit".
Other useful details include a 64-ounce removable water tank, an 8-ounce bean container, a five-level water-hardness selector, an automatic hot-water rinse cycle that cleans and pre-heats all vital brewing parts, a height-adjustable coffee spout, and an electronic water-level sensor that makes sure the machine never operates without water. Moreover, its Clearyl water-care system removes chlorine, lead, aluminum, and copper for better-tasting coffee, and a special organic additive removes almost all calcium and eliminates decalcifying altogether. The unit also provides electronic sensors that indicate when water or coffee beans need to be added, an automatic cleaning cycle indicator, a "full" indicator for the used coffee container, seven language options in the dialog system, Energy Saving mode to reduce power consumption in stand-by mode, and a separate main power switch. Saeco Xelsis SS Automatic Espresso Machine, Stainless Steel Review

Saeco Xelsis SS Automatic Espresso Machine, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have (now you can say had!!) the Saeco Primea Touch Plus. I mainly make cappucinos. With the Primea, I had issues with the milk temperature (too cold) and no milk foam. Also, the cleanup was a pain.
I decided to try the Xelsis and I am glad that I did. So far I have had the machine for about two weeks and it is a winner. The milk comes out hot and the foam is perfect (looks like micro-foam done by a wand). It is easy to maintain and has worked flawless. The only negative is that the drip tray is kind of small but is it very quick and easy to empty. If you are looking for a quick and easy cappucino this machine is for you.

Jura-Capresso 13423 Impressa S9 One Touch Automatic Coffee-and-Espresso Center, Platinum Review

Jura-Capresso 13423 Impressa S9 One Touch Automatic Coffee-and-Espresso Center, Platinum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We've had the S9 for over 5 years now. The customer service is pretty good when you have a maintenance question. Makes the most of a good coffee bean by ensuring you get a hot espresso with a lot of real crema. Use strong non-oily beans for the best coffee in the world. Brands I have used include Intelligentsia, Lutz, Kimbo, Lavazza, and other good espresso beans. What I really like about this machine is you can make other coffee (in addition to the beans you have loaded in the machine). It has a one button function to override the beans you already have loaded and lets you add grounds to a compartment at the front of the machine. For example, I have Dunkin Donuts decaf grounds on hand for folks that want a decaf coffee. I also have decaf espresso grounds.
Keep up with the maintenance on this machine and it will take care of you. It's pricey, so just keep up with the maintenance to get your money's worth. The machine will let you know when it's time to change the water filter, clean using the tablets, and de-calcify.
After having a coffee from this machine, we never go to Starbucks or any other coffee shop for coffee. There stuff will not compete. Maybe over 5 years, we broke even on this machine by the $$ we saved by not spending 4-5 bucks on double lattes. Good luck with your choice.

Saeco 658 Odea Giro 15-Bar-Pump Automatic Espresso Machine Review

Saeco 658 Odea Giro 15-Bar-Pump Automatic Espresso Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Seeking the perfect 'superautomatic' espresso machine, we bought this model a little over 2 years ago. Worked fine for a while. Coffee quality good, nice frothing. Then, after about year, it began to leak water from beneath. When this got to the point of flooding the counter, we sought service. Nearest Saeco-registered service center (and the only one in Missouri) was 100 miles away. Dropped it off, left the required $75 deposit. It took the service shop a NINE MONTHS to receive parts. And, it turns out, not all the parts were sent. Service bill: $200 (1/3 the cost of the machine)ON WARRANY. After another 200 mile round trip, it was back in the kitchen. It lasted 2 weeks, and completely stopped functioning. Among other things, the frothing stopped working That's all for this SAECO. "Superautomatic" sounds too good to be true, and it is.
Advice:
1) don't buy SAECO machines
2) don't buy any machine lacking reviews after at least a year of use. Read a lot of reviews and you'll see that this kind of breakdown is very common among all brands of superautomatics.
3) get up early enough to make a cup of coffee yourself.
We're back to our totally reliable, unbreakable, Mukka Express.

Equipped with 15 bars of pump pressure, this 1500-watt automatic espresso machine makes it effortless to enjoy cafe-quality beverages from the comfort of home. It features an innovative control dial and large buttons for easily customizing the aroma and amount of coffee in the cup and for choosing between one or two cups simultaneously; alert lights to the left of the dial provide clear, instant details for each function. The appliance also provides a patented removable brew group that allows the machine to tamp, brew, and dispense coffee in one cycle (remove the brew group for quick rinsing and chemical-free cleaning). In addition, its built-in ceramic grinder ensures the best results without altering the flavor of coffee. The grinder delivers a more even grind for perfect dosing and blending, which means more control over the density and body of coffee--plus substantially reduces the amount of coffee residue in the cup. Even more, the espresso machine's Rapid Steam technology reduces the normal waiting time between brewing coffee and steam output to just a few seconds. A separate heat exchange for steam delivers fast and continuous steam pressure for creating a creamy milk froth in no time. The included Pannarello frothing device dispenses steam in three different directions and makes it simple to froth milk for cappuccinos and lattes or to dispense hot water for Americanos, tea, and hot chocolate. Additional highlights include a stainless-steel boiler, a 180-gram-capacity bean container, an OptiDose adjustable doser (7 to 10-1/2 grams), a removable 1-1/2-liter water tank, a Brita water filter, a large cup-stacking surface that can hold up to six espresso cups at a time, and an adjustable-height drip tray that can be raised or lowered to accommodate a wide range of cup sizes. For added convenience, the unit's Energy Safe mode kicks in when the machine sits idle (choose Stand-By mode for enhanced energy savings). Durably housed in ABS plastic with an ultra-sleek and stylish design, the espresso machine measures 15 by 11-1/2 by 14-1/2 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Saeco Xelsis Digital ID Automatic Espresso Machine Review

Saeco Xelsis Digital ID Automatic Espresso Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let me start by saying this machine is AWESOME. It's so easy to use, and so easy to customize, that everyone here at home is now a coffee (espresso) addict!!!
Pros:
- Amazingly easy to use. Push one button and it'll make your preferred beverage.
- It comes with a milk carafe that's sealable, so you can keep it filled in the fridge
- When you want it, just pick the carafe and attach to the machine. It'll then automatically make your cafe latte, latte machiatto or whatever beverage you prefer...
- You can customize everything. I like a strong espresso, but when drinking a machiatto I only want foam, not milk. It can do that.
- Stainless steel, so it's pretty sturdy. No easy to break plastic parts here.
- It looks great!!!
- It cleans itself (including the milk carafe) so you never get that "old coffee" taste
- It has a separate slot for ground coffee, so my GF can make her decaf at night!
Cons:
- Water tank could be bigger
- It has a drip tray, but it gets full kinda quickly. No biggie since it's easy to empty it though
Overall, it's a GREAT machine. The ease to use makes drinking espresso and lattes a breeze. The fingerprint Id reader is a nice feature, but not a must in my opinion. It's very sturdy and very easy to clean!
