Nespresso 3194-Us-Bk Aeroccino and Milk Frother Review

I bought this because my wife & I wanted to add frothed milk to our coffee, but we didn't want to buy or use a full-on espresso machine and its steam wand. We use it in conjuction with our Cuisinox Roma 6-cup Stainless Steel Stovetop Espresso Maker.
I was skeptical at first. I'd never seen nor heard of a device like this. After unpacking and cleaning, it was ready to go. Very simple usage, very simple instructions. It's so easy to make frothed milk now!
It uses a silent, magnetically driven spinner to mix the milk inside of a container that simultaneously warms up the milk. It uses a whisk-type spinner for frothing or a smoother spinner for simply stirring the milk. It does not heat/cook the milk like a steam wand, it simply warms it up. The whisk-type stirrer gives the milk foam. The combination of heat and whisking provides for a very good milk froth that's firm and won't break down in minutes.
Here's a quick breakdown:
Pros:
* Warm, frothy milk is attained in about 1 minute.
* It is very consistent.
* It makes enough froth for one or two servings, depending on your preferences.
* It is very easily cleaned.
* It is very quiet, almost silent. You can now froth while your partner sleeps!
* It can be used to make warm or cool milk & coffee drinks.
* One stirring device for froth, one for latté.
Cons:
* It does not heat the milk to the same temperature as a steam wand.
* It does not caramelize the milk sugars as efficiently as a steam wand.
* It cannot froth heavy cream. The magnetic spinner does not have that much torque.
* It cannot caramelize skim milk.
Guidelines:
* Use whole milk for best results.
* Use half & half when more cream is needed.
* Rice milk, soy milk and skim milk won't work well.

Froth Au Lait Gourmet Hot and Cold Frother Review

Froth Au Lait Gourmet Hot and Cold Frother
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this item after a recommendation from someone I know and who is a coffee master, and after reading the reviews. I make a large Latte a couple of times a day. Getting the right froth with most consumer grade kitchen gear is a challenge. And reading about this one, I thought would fit that void nicely. Well, yes and no.
If you need gobs of beautiful velvety froth, this machine will most definitely deliver. And you can't beat the price.
But, if you want to make a great latte with a good froth, it can turn into a frustrating experience, as it leaves ergonomics and efficiency to be desired. First of all, if I used 1 cup of milk, as I usually do, I end up with the unit full of froth and almost no liquid milk left. Too much froth, too little milk. So I have to resort to heating some milk separately and end up discarding a lot of froth which is wasteful. Second is the cleaning - the unit can optionally heat the liquid during the process, which is of course nice. But, at only 500W heating, it takes quite a while and you have no control over temperature. Also, because the heating is accomplished through a coil in the bottom of the removable pitcher, it invariably has a slight burn-in every time and with the integrated electrics you can't put it in the dishwasher, so that adds annoying hand-cleaning every time (remove the paddles, rinse, take a sponge and clean the bottom of the pitcher, wipe dry).
So while I like the froth it makes, I have gone from using one machine (KitchenAid espresso machine) to 3 (make coffee, make froth, heat milk) and I have at least twice the cleaning to do afterwards. That's an unreasonable ergonomic setup. It's possible that using different amounts of milk makes a difference on some aspects, but that would make it wasteful again.
I think this unit has it's place in sauces, whipped cream, and other things (if you don't already have other suitable KitchenAid mixers/processor for that), but as a everyday milk frother it falls short. Hence it's trying to be versatile, but ends up imperfect.
The build quality wasn't impressive. Lots of plastic, some parts (like heater on/off switch) not well fitted.

Nespresso 3190US Aeroccino Automatic Milk Frother Review

Nespresso 3190US Aeroccino Automatic Milk Frother

When Aeroccino works, it works great. It is quick and quiet, and produces excellent foam. Clean up is very easy. But, there is something inherently unstable about Aeroccino machines. Since August, I managed to kill three of them and I am not sure why. Part of it is the nature of the machine: because it is constructed like a water kettle, one should not submerge it into water. But because it is designed to heat milk, the manufacturer allows putting it under running water as long as the bottom of the machine remains dry. If you get the bottom wet (and you will), the machine either trips (and heals itself after fully drying) or dies. I suspect, my first two Aeroccinos died such deaths. My third one died today. I frothed milk with it, refilled it and tried again (without cleaning in between) and the machine did not work. I tried again and it worked for 20 seconds and stopped. I tried again a couple hours later and it worked for 10 seconds and stopped. I am not sure why it is so, but I suspect it has to do with the magnetic foaming brushes you must insert into the machine to make it work. If anyone has ideas why this is so, let me know.
On the positive side I keep calling the company and they keep sending me new machines. I really like Aeroccino when it works. But I suspect it will be the good old microwave when I finally run out of warranty.

Nespresso CitiZ C110 Espresso Maker, Aluminum Review

Nespresso CitiZ C110 Espresso Maker, Aluminum
Average Reviews:

One of the best things about the CitiZ it that it takes up little space on the counter and makes great coffee!! If you live in a big city, you can get the capsules easily, but Nespresso's website is easy to order from and the service is amazing as the capsules arrive right away. Our kids are always stopping at Starbucks and spending a lot of money, but now we have this -saving time and money, too. It's $.50 a capsule and sometimes they use 2 at a time vs $6 or 7 dollars at a coffee shop. If you need frothed milk, buy the larger CitZ that has an attached frother or just buy a separate frother.

Nespresso 3192US Aeroccino Plus Review

Nespresso 3192US Aeroccino Plus
Average Reviews:

I really love it! You fill cold milk into it, push the button and after about a minute you get warm and very stiff cappucino-milk foam.
The newer Aeroccino Plus is an improved version of the older Aeroccino (no plus). It works great and - honestly - there is no reason to buy the old Aeroccino anymore (i own both)!
The Plus is larger, the milk doesn't burn to the floor of the kettle anymore, it can now be submerged into water (but no dishwasher!) and it can also do cold milk foam which looks great and stiff (hold the switch for about 2 seconds - the light turns blue instead of red).
Finally cleaning is really easy and can be done with water, sometimes a little soap and with the hands - there is no burned milk anymore (as with the old version). They also improved the coating so nothing sticks anymore.
If you love cappucinos or cafe-lattes, get one!

Nespresso CitiZ Automatic Espresso Maker and Milk Frother Review

Nespresso CitiZ Automatic Espresso Maker and Milk Frother
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
With all the new style espresso machines on the market (Tassimo, Keurig, Flavia, etc.) I was convinced that Nespresso was more of the same: a set of stylish gimmicks designed to convince you that this "espresso" (though not real at all) was "the real thing." It never is.
Which is why the Nespresso is so great. It IS the REAL THING. The capsules contain nothing more than espresso coffee grounds. The machine is simply an automated and miniaturized "real" espresso rig. And the results speak for themselves:
-- full bodied crema like you get from the best barista
-- speedy and HOT cups of espresso
-- the espresso produced is crisp and clear, full bodied, and smooth
-- my Sicilian wife and all her relatives (numerous, and mostly named "Maria" "Antonina" and "Dominic") all fully approve of the espresso that comes out. Comparing is to "Nonna's" would be sacrilege, but although those words have not been spoken yet, I am conviced the thought has crossed a couple minds. :-)
-- all this in under 30 seconds and within a square foot of counter space.
The frothing unit that comes with the machine is nothing short of black magic. I have NO IDEA what it does or how it does it, but the results will amaze you. And the best part is it's easy to clean: no sticky milk mess left behind to make you wonder who's gonna get sick first.
Coffee for this machine is 55 cents per cup, and Nespresso delivers online orders with astonishing speed (which is good, because you can't get the coffee from anyone else!). A bit pricey, but in this case you DO get what you pay for... and then some.

The flow of coffee depends on the coffee variety selected, and up to 11 used capsules collect in the capsule container for later disposal. Other thoughtful design details include automatic and programmable volume control, an energy-saving mode, a 1-liter removable water tank, a removable drip tray, and folding cup support (one position for a cup and one position for a macchiato glass).
